Nigel Burgoine is the Artistic Director of the Ballet Theatre of Toledo. He is a classical ballet instructor and choreographer. He is a graduate of the Royal Ballet School and former principal dancer with the London Festival Ballet. He is a Founder/Member of the London Festival Ballet Education Team, past Director of the British Ballet Organization and past Artistic Director of the Cincinnati Ballet. Mr. Burgoine spent 10 years, from 1995, as the Artistic Director of the Toledo Ballet. In 2005, after Toledo Ballet failed to renew his contract, he was embraced by dancers and parents who formed the Ballet Theatre of Toledo, Inc. Released from his non-compete contract with Toledo Ballet in June 2006, he is now Artistic Director of the Ballet Theatre of Toledo. He has a stand alone building with brand new state-of-the-art studios and over 150 registered students. Nigel’s passion is Ballet, not only instruction and choreography, but spreading the word and the magic of Ballet to area schools and institutions with educational events and demonstrations. Mr. Burgoine is a legend with enthusiasm and an infectious love for the art of Ballet. His spectacular World Premiere of Aladdin, in March of 2007, performed at the Stranahan Theater in Toledo, solidified his position at the top of his craft and Ballet Theatre of Toledo as THE school for Ballet in the Northwest Ohio, Southeast Michigan region.
